About Us

The "Hostel Altes Spital" in Balingen offers the unique opportunity to stay overnight in a historic building with flair and history.
It was built in the years after the devastating city fire of 1809, which also destroyed the previous building. At that time, the southern suburb of Balingen was newly created.
The hospital that was built was a combination of a retirement home and a poorhouse. The residents were popularly called "Spittelmucken".
